    • Open Repair: This involves making a single larger incision near the site of the hernia to access and repair it directly.

    • Laparoscopic/Robotic Repair: This uses several small incisions through which specialized instruments and cameras are inserted to perform the repair from inside.

    Laparoscopic/robotic repairs generally result in less post-operative pain, faster recovery times, & smaller scars. Open repairs may involve longer recovery times depending on complexity. Both techniques have similar success rates when performed by experienced surgeons.
