No, not all hernias require immediate surgery. Small and asymptomatic hernias can often be monitored with a "watchful waiting" approach. However, most hernias will gradually enlarge over time and may eventually require surgical repair to prevent complications like incarceration or strangulation. Symptomatic or large hernias are typically recommended for elective surgical repair.
