Vascular Surgeon
Your doctor will review your medical history, ask about symptoms and examine your legs. They will check for pulses in your legs and may compare blood pressure readings in the arms and ankles using a test called the ankle-brachial index (ABI).
They may also recommend the following tests:
• Ultrasound scan - assesses blood flow in the legs
• Angiogram - involves injecting contrast dye into a blood vessel so that blood flow can be viewed more clearly on imaging tests
• Blood tests - check for risk factors that increase the risk of PAD e.g. high cholesterol
