The main symptoms are intermittent neurological (nerve) symptoms including:

    • numbness

    • paraesthesia (pins and needles)

    • pain

    • weakness

These symptoms can disturb sleep, and may be worse at night. They mainly occur on the thumb side of the hand but they can radiate through the whole hand and arm.

Symptoms such as weakness and clumsiness of the hand can progress to the daytime which can affect day-to-day, work and sporting activities. In late stages, it can cause permanent nerve damage.
