A lower facelift, often referred to as a “jowl lift,” is a surgical procedure designed to correct ageing changes in the lower portion of the face. Unlike a traditional full facelift, which focuses not only the lower face, but also the mid face (cheek) and neck regions for a more comprehensive rejuvenation, the lower facelift focuses specifically on the lower third—targeting the jowls and jawline. The goal of a lower facelift is to tighten and lift the skin while also addressing the underlying musculature, particularly the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) and platysma muscles.
