Did you know that some breast cancer subtypes are given chemotherapy first to shrink the tumour before surgery? These days breast cancer treatment is tailored to the patient. There are many factors that influence the order in which different treatment modalities are given, which is why you see a specialist. Generally speaking, there are 3 main treatment modalities:

    1) Surgery

    2) Systemic therapy which includes, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy and

    3) Radiotherapy.
