Most patients will stay in hospital for one night following the procedure. To be discharged, we will make sure your pain is controlled, you can mobilise and be able to drink enough to hydrate yourself at home. You will have follow up appointments already scheduled with the surgeon and dietitian. I advise patients that one week off work is good but two weeks is ideal as some patients may find they feel a bit foggy in the early postop period. If you do need to return to work, having the second week working from home is a good option if possible. We can provide medical certificates to cover this time period.
