    It depends upon several factors including where the hernia is, how large it is and what you are planning to do exercise wise. For the best case scenario post a laparoscopic Inguinal hernia, I recommend that you can walk as much as you like from the day after surgery till 2 weeks, then aerobic activity that supports the body weight like cycling or swimming from 2-6 weeks, the jog if you like from 6 weeks. It will take theatre months till you are fully healed, so no heavy lifting (>10kg) till then. Those dumbbells in the gym will have to wait! At all times as you recover, listen to your body - if it hurts stop doing it.
