    22% of women have what Doctors refer to as polycystic ovaries on pelvic ultrasound scan. This is common. However polycystic ovarian syndrome is an assessment made by Doctors based on your symptoms and further tests such as hormone levels. It is associated with reduced fertility mainly due to infrequent ovulation. This is treatable with life style changes and ovulation induction treatments. IVF is sometimes required.
