There is no long-term data on the results and benefits of robotic total knee replacement since it is still relatively new. There is also a lack of conclusive data to suggest it is better than traditional knee replacement in terms of post-operative function and longevity of prosthesis.
However, the limited clinical data available for robotic total knee replacement is promising. Benefits include the following:
• More precise incisions
• Increased accuracy of placement and alignment of implants
• Less tissue removal
• Preservation of healthy tissue and bone
• Less pain and quicker recovery than traditional total knee replacement
• Hospital stay may be reduced
• Quicker return to activities of daily living
