    Partial and focal epilepsy

    One doctor tells me that I have partial epilepsy, and another says that I have focal seizures, then in a letter it says focal to bilateral seizures. What does it all mean?

    These essentially are different terms for the same thing. Partial and focal epilepsy both mean your seizures are coming from one small part of the brain. Focal to bilateral seizures mean that the seizures also start in this small area, then spread to both hemispheres most likely causing you to have a tonic clonic seizure.
