Shortness of breath can occur due to a multitude of reasons. Cardiac causes like an irregular heart rhythm, ischemic heart disease and heart valve problems can all cause shortness of breath. Neuromuscular causes , e.g.muscle weakness due to prolonged illness or paralysis of the diaghphram/ the dome-shaped large muscle separating the chest from the abdomen can also cause shortness of breath. Not engaging in regular physical activity can also lead to deconditioning and shortness of breath. Adding to this blood disorders like anaemia can also cause shortness of breath
Respiratory causes of shortness of breath is only one possibility. In the category of Respiratory diseases, any disease affecting the breathing tubes like asthma, any disease affecting the lung tissue like lung fibrosis as well as diseases affecting the blood vessels in the lungs causing blood clots in the lungs called pulmonary emboli can all cause shortness of breath.Pulmonary hypertension certainly can cause shortness of breath as well.
It interests me as to why you focused on Pulmonary hypertension among all other causes mentioned above.
