Keratoconus is known to be a progressive condition,so generally symptoms will worsen over time. Having said this, many keratoconus patients do stabilise after 10 or 20 years or progression, and everyone is different so it's difficult to predict worsening of symptoms for an individual.

Corneal Collagen Cross Linking is a relatively new procedure which does not ‘cure’ keratoconus but which can help to stabilise & strengthen a cornea that is changing due to keratoconus.

Eye rubbing is thought to contribute to the progression of keratoconus and so it must be stopped.

As keratoconus progresses over the years, rigid contact lenses need to be adjusted & re-ordered to fit to the new corneal shape.
