Apert Syndrome is a genetic disorder and falls under the broad class of craniofacial/limb abnormalities. It is characterised by specific malformations of the skull, midface, hands, and feet. The skull bones are fused prematurely and unable to grow normally; the area of the face from the eye socket to the upper jaw (known as the midface) appears sunken; and some or all of the fingers and toes are fused together.
