Liz specialises in helping you to feel better, by helping you identify any food, diet or environmental factors that might be triggering your symptoms. Liz helps people with IBS, migraines, eczema, mood issues and much more! Liz was the founding dietitian of Newtown Nutrition in 2000 and has since helped many people to achieve their health and lifestyle goals to improve their health.
Liz has a broad range of experience in many areas of nutrition and health.
Digestive Health Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) such as bloating, abdominal pain, windiness, diarrhoea or constipation (or both!) can be uncomfortable and embarrassing or may be severe enough to get in the way of everyday life. Liz helps clients to tease apart which diet and lifestyle factors may be affecting you, as well as using a range of strategies to improve your gut health and reduce your symptoms returning.
Food intolerance Liz has a particular interest in helping people with food intolerances to identify which foods or components of foods triggers symptoms for you. Food intolerances may be involved with a range of symptoms, including IBS migraines, eczema, behavioural issues in children and mood disorders. Having had personal experiences with food intolerances and knowing what a difference identifying them can make, she is keen to help you to feel better too!
Weight loss More than 10 years ago, working in a specialised Obesity Clinic, Liz learnt a powerful lesson - why diets don't work. Having seen too many people who had followed a yoyo shaped rollercoaster, with weight increasing more and more after each diet, she was determined to find another way. Of course anyone can follow a meal plan for a few weeks or even months if they try hard enough, but this doesn't really address the reasons why we eat in the first place, be it habit, stress, boredom, tiredness etc. Liz uses inspiration and techniques from non-dieting experts including Dr Rick Kausman's ‘If not dieting, then what?’, George Blair-West's ‘The Food-Lover’s Diet' and mindful eating techniques. Liz combines these strategies with Health Coaching techniques to help you determine the main factors you need to address to change your eating and lifestyle patterns to lose weight, and helps you to create sustainable strategies to achieve these goals.
Weight loss surgery Liz was one of the first dietitians in Sydney to support clients undergoing weight loss surgery and has not only helped many clients through their surgery but also educates other dietitians on the topic. As well as helping you through the different dietary stages pre and post surgery (see Weight Loss Surgery) Liz utilises the techniques described above to help you address underlying habits and patterns that contribute to your eating patterns.
