I provide low cost individual counselling to children, adolescents, and adults alike. I offer short-term counselling to all clients and I structure every counselling session based on the individual’s needs. I truly believe that it is essential for everyone to be able to access low cost counselling services during their times of need.

My name is Catherine and I completed my counselling studies at the Australian Catholic University. As a Counsellor, I have worked in Australia, England, Rwanda, and Kenya – and in contrasting environments. To date, I have worked primarily with disadvantaged/at risk population groups, and in a variety of settings. Such settings are schools, children’s homes, counselling centres, and outpatient hospital clinics.
Child and Adolescent Counselling: I have experience working with primary school aged students within an educational setting, working with children individually and in small groups, and in disadvantaged communities. In some communities where counselling is not yet recognised, I was fortunate to be able to provide pastoral care to children living out of home, and through various activities. In 2018, I commenced adolescent counselling, providing both individual counselling and group counselling where needed.
Adults’ Counselling: Working with adults, I have focussed on carrying out clinical assessments, as well as crisis counselling. Many of these adults presented either at risk of, or were currently experiencing emotional distress and mental health issues, amongst other concerns.
Trauma Counselling for Sexual Violence: In 2018, I spent several months working intensively as a Counselling Practitioner (Intern)/Aid Worker, and within an outpatient hospital setting in Kenya. Whilst in Kenya, I had the opportunity to specialise in trauma counselling, and with predominantly child and adolescent clients. Many of the clients whom I counselled experienced gender-based violence in the form of sexual violence.
Counselling Modalities: In terms of therapeutic orientation, when working with children and adolescents, much of my counselling work entails a humanistic approach, and with an emphasis on creative and expressive based interventions. Whilst working with adults, I continue to use a humanistic approach, and with added techniques from a strengths based approach, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. I also include exercises that are both reflective and creative when counselling adult clients.
