David Young is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience. He is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society, a board approved psychological supervisor, a full member of the Australian Pain Society and was on the Executive Committee for the Agency for Clinical Intervention (ACI) for the treatment of pain. David has completed a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical), a Masters in Psychology (Counselling) and a Bachelor of Teaching. His Doctorate thesis explored the complex relationships between psychosocial stressors and pain in individuals with chronic pain conditions. David has a strong interest and expertise in helping people cope psychologically with chronic pain conditions. He also has expertise in helping individuals manage conditions such as depression, anxiety and trauma related issues. He has been trained in a number of counselling and clinical modalities but his preferred treatment approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema-based therapy. He prides himself on taking a client centred approach in an effort to ensure that the person he is working with is always respected and feels as comfortable as possible in each session.
