Adverse childhood conditions and challenging family relationships impact our adult lives in several ways ... For instance, we may treat ourselves badly in various ways, look after other people's needs rather than ours, have unsatisfying relationships or trouble finding a partner. Our ability to create a fulfilling life may be reduced or we have trouble letting go of our past.

Frank Breuer is a Sydney based Clinical Psychologist and the director of New Paths Psychology. In his 20 years of therapeutic work, Frank has found a way to integrate the leading therapeutic schools of behavioural, psycho-dynamic and family therapy. Since 1996, he has worked in hospitals and community services, but has spent most of his professional life in private practice (since 2000). He established New Paths Psychology in Hornsby in March 2010.
Frank completed a degree in Clinical Psychology at university, then a five year specialist training program in Psychological therapy for adults in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.
Frank has a special interest in improving family relationships, whatever reasons impact negatively on the relationship quality, including difficulties to become independent from own parents, living together as a couple, pregnancy questions or empty nesters. Also, common presentations like anxiety and depression often reduce the quality of relationships significantly.
Clients and colleagues value Frank’s high level of integrity, expertise and loyalty in life. His calmness and safe nature are much appreciated by clients.
Frank’s psychology training is equally extensive as the training of a Medical Specialist, i.e. 11 years until he completed his specialist training in 2003 in Germany to be granted the national license as Psychological therapist. Since then ongoing professional development hours have accrued to over 1200 hours, in several contemporary therapy approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapies, Family Systems Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic Constellations and Clinical Hypnosis.
He has completed trainings
Completion of 6 years Masters in Clinical Psychology (Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany)
Completion of 5 years Post-graduate Psychotherapy training for adults in Cognitive Therapy (KLVT, Cologne, Germany)
Fully licensed as Psychotherapist in Germany (Approbation) since 2003, Full registration with APHRA since 2009
