Dr Raewyn Teirney has been working in Gynaecology and Infertility for more than 18 years. As a FRANZCOG fertility specialist, she has helped countless couples achieve their dream of a baby. Raewyn is renowned for her caring approach and the time she spends with patients to discuss all options.
With a focus on fertility issues affecting women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis and fibroids, Raewyn is determined to empower women and couples on their fertility journey recognising the sense of frustration many experience in trying to start a family.
Raewyn practices all aspects of infertility, however, her special research and clinical interest in PCOS is paramount, having published many papers on this topic. She now lectures and trains subspecialists of the future on this condition and maintains a Visiting Medical Officer fertility subspecialist role at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney
Raewyn studied at Auckland University before taking her Masters of Medicine in Reproductive Health and Human Genetics at The University of Sydney. On completing her obstetrics and gynaecology training in Sydney, Raewyn continued further sub-speciality training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as a clinical lecturer at Cambridge University and Bourn Hall IVF Centre in England - one of the world’s leading centres of IVF research and clinical excellence. She obtained her Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) in 2002. Raewyn’s experience in laparoscopic surgery complements her busy fertility practice.
Raewyn also has a special interest in helping same-sex couples and single women create a family through IVFAustralia’s donor program. As a female fertility specialist, Raewyn is highly regarded by patients for her ability to explain sophisticated medical science in ways in which everyone understands.
