For quite some time (years) I have sporadically heard a loud heartbeat sound in my left ear. This usually occurs early morning or late at night when I'm still or winding down, but it is so loud that I am unable to sleep. If I press on the carotid artery beneath that ear, the pulsating noise subsides so often this is how I eventually fall asleep. It's only just been brought to my attention that this isn't something all people experience, so I am now wondering if it is something that can be fixed or not.
Could you give me additional information, or point me in the direction I need to go to have this explored?
