    Hyperparathyroidism when pregnant

I am almost 8 weeks pregnant and in routine blood tests, it has been found that I have high calcium levels. I did not have this in my previous pregnancy.
In my initial fasting blood test, my calcium level was 2.66mmol/L and in my follow up, non-fasting blood test, my calcium level had increased to 2.79mmol/L. My PTH level has come back to within the normal range.
From what I have read it is likely that I have hyperparathyroidism, which is rare during pregnancy. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in a few weeks, but was wondering if there are there medications available that I can safely take during pregnancy or is it likely that I would be required to have surgery?
