    Chronic infection under thumbnail

    Related Topic
I have had a continual infection under my thumbnail for about 5 years. I have had lots of antibiotics and my nail removed several times. It hurts and smells and now there is shooting pain in my joint. I have asked my GP to see a specialist, but they just keep taking my nail off and giving me antibiotics. I went to the hospital once. They took x-rays, removed the nail and gave me more antibiotics. It initially started by a thorn from a plant into the nail.

    What should I do?
