My 5 year old daughter is having outbursts

My 5-year-old daughter is having angry outbursts at home and school (but not at her father's/ my ex husband's house). She loses her temper, disobeys, hits and scratches herself and pulls out her hair. When I've tried to calm her, she hits me, yells and screams and runs away.
Her behaviour has only changed in the past 4 months and now she has had to be picked up from school 2 weeks in a row due to defiance and tantrums/outbursts. The episodes are getting worse and the violence during these outbursts is getting worse. I am gravely concerned for her wellbeing and school work. She is in Prep and she hasn't faired well lately. I have an appointment with CDS but that isn't until Monday and I am at a loss with her. What should I do?
