I have had my Implanon in for approx 5 years now.

My partner and I have been having unprotected sex for 6+ months now and I am not pregnant. Is it possible that having the Implanon staying in past the expiration date has made me infertile? I have previously had 3 aborted pregnancies, so I was able to get pregnant at one stage.

The manufacturers information sheet only shows the hormone release up to 3 years after insertion (at which time it is still releasing hormone, but less than at the beginning).

There will still be a small amount of hormone released after that but I dont know when that becomes zero.

If you are having regular periods then it is very unlikley there is any hormone still being released.

However, I would suggest you have the implanon removed regardless.
