  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Do I need to have a benign 4.7-cm nodule removed off my thyroid?

I had a US because i was having severe heartburn and my lower throat area was sore and constant cough. It came back saying i had some irregular nodules and 1 of them was 4.7 cm and required further investigation. I had the radioactive stuff injected and had a scan then they did a fine needle biopsy. The result was benign. So my question is does it keep growing? How am I supposed to get relief from pain of swallowing. The GP i saw wasn't very helpful. She ummed and arred when i asked her these questions. Then sent a referral off to a specialist that doesn't even deal with thyriods. I have been having trouble getting in contact with her. So trying to do my own research. Please help.
