How to help a 6 year old creative, distracted boy to perform daily tasks?

I have 3 kids: 9, 6 and 4 years old boys. The one in the middle is always in his dreams, so distracted, he seems not to be interested when you talk to him, and he is very difficult to do the daily responsibilities, as eating, dressing, sleeping or showering. You can talk with him and wont remember what you said. He seems not to be affected by talking to him, punishment or shouting. You, as a parent, really can't get him. Very smart, great writing, likes maths, music, craft, painting, is sweet, likes hugs an kisses, big heart boy; but from the outside, your first impression is opposite - abrupt. He can not maintain the eyes on you when you talk to him, most of the time he is busy in his mind, likes to play alone. Quick movements and without control, he hits a lot (himself or others) because of his clumsiness and his busy mind. Sometimes I don't know how to help him!!!
