Should I still be evaluated for TMJ?

Since middle school when I had orthodontic work done (I'm in my early 30s now), my jaw has always popped on one side. About 2 months ago, it started to hurt. I'd just had a retreatment done for a failed root canal and a crown put on. I'd also started a new job which may have cause a little bit of stress. I started to grind my teeth at night. I have never been able to open my mouth very widely without it beginning to hurt after just a short period of time. My jaw also moves to the side when I open it and my teeth don't fit together as well in the later part of the day as they did in the morning on the side that pops. I used an over the counter mouth guard for a while but have stopped now and the pain has gone away. Since the pain has gone away do you think I should still have someone look at my jaw?
