If you have hashimoto's disease should your thyroid be removed?

I recently had my thyroid removed but read somewhere if you have hashimoto's disease it is pointless to have your thyroid removed. I also had an large thyroid and with very large nodules and an inconclusive biopsy but after reading this I am wondering if I am going to still have problems.
