David is an experienced psychologist with a calm, confident, and professional manner. He has broad experience working with clients of all ages and is a passionate advocate for the effectiveness of psychological interventions for people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. David’s style is to work collaboratively with his clients, within a safe environment, to help them enact positive change.
David began his career working in a successful private practice in inner western Sydney before moving to a community mental health service. David has experience working with clients with symptoms of depression and anxiety, alcohol and other drug dependence, eating disturbances, as well as single-event and complex trauma.
His work within the community mental health sector particularly has led him to develop an interest in the influence of negative life experiences, particularly those early in life, on the development of core beliefs, personality, identity, relationships, and self-esteem in adulthood.
David uses only evidence-based approaches in his work namely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as narrative and other systemic therapies.
He is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority, is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and is able to provide services under Medicare.
