I have been diagnosed with grade4 chondromalacia of the right knee. My everyday activities are being limited due to the pain.
Climbing the stairs in my house has become near impossible though necessary daily.
I can no longer walk long distances, stand for long and drive longer than 30 minutes. 2 knee surgeons have been reluctant to offer surgical options and have advised only to continue pain management and hydrotherapy.
They have stated that at 52, I am too young for knee replacement. They have advised me to return when I am at least 60 years old.
I am not sure how I am to continue the way I am at present. I am relying on Norspan patches for pain in conjunction with Panadol.
My sleep is interrupted and am very frustrated.
I am not sure what else I can do.
Are there any other options for me at my age for my osteoarthritis?
Many of my friends have been diagnosed recently with different types of arthritis including gout, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis etc. Which is the most common form of arthritis is in Australia?
