Dr Barry Wren was one of the original founders of the International Menopause Society in 1976 and subsequently founded the Australian Menopause Society, becoming its first president in 1988. He was a professor at UNSW from 1964 until his retirement in 1989, and a senior consultant on the staff at the Royal Hospital for Women from 1964 to 2002. Barry was director of the Sydney Menopause Centre until his retirement in 2001 and since then has practiced as a gynaecologist and endocrinologist in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
